Virtual Music Festival

The Virtual Music Festival is a one-day event, and is divided into sessions of workshops, each delivered by one of our distinguished tutors, who are all professional music teachers/performers with a vast amount of experience and insights. Participants are free to pick and choose which sessions to attend.

Although there are suggested main target audience, much of the content would be relevant to players of other instruments, too. Therefore the participants are strongly encouraged to read through the detailed descriptions in the timetable and sign up as many sessions as they can, to maximise the full experience on the day.

Gigi Lam

Aural and theory tutor

Gigi Lam is a PhD in Music Education graduating from the Royal College of Music in London. Gigi will lead the Morning Warm-up and the Aural workshop

Lionel Handy

Cello Tutor

Lionel is a professor at the Royal Academy of Music and taught at the Birmingham Conservatoire in addition to summer schools in Europe.

Fred Scott

Composition tutor

Fred Scott was trained at the Royal Academy of Music and has been active in the music industry since the 1980’s as a pianist, composer, writer, arranger, mentor and teacher.

Rachel Cooper

Violin Tutor

Rachel is a violin teacher working as a Violin/Viola and Chamber Music Coach at Guildhall School of Music and Drama Junior Department.

Yushan Li

Violin Tutor

Yushan also has extensive experience in teaching in both China and the UK, now teaching privately from her own studio in London.

Lance Kelly

Brass Tutor

Lance is a professional trumpeter, playing in London Orchestras, Theatre, TV and recording studios. He conducts the Enfield Youth Wind Band.

Melanie Spanswick

Piano tutor

Melanie is a member of the piano faculty at Junior Guildhall School and a piano teacher in Eton College.

Scott Wilson

Conducting Tutor

Scott Wilson is a Fellow in conducting and Artist in Residence at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and has conducted numerous orchestras across the world.

Laura Dodds

Cello Tutor

Laura has an extensive range of teaching experience and currently teaches in a number of prestigious school music departments, as well as having her own private practice.

Jennifer Hazel

Woodwind and Singing Tutor

Jen played and coached extensively in various ensembles in Boston and London. She currently teaches at Centre for Young Musicians.

There are also limited spaces for one-to-one coaching opportunities from some of the tutors with an additional cost to be agreed between you and the tutor. If you are interested, you can indicate your interest on the registration form. We will then pass on to the respective tutors, who might contact you individually for an arrangement. However, please note that this is subject to the availability of tutors, and we cannot guarantee that you will be able to receive such coaching.
