London Chinese Children’s Ensemble proudly announced the time and venue of its first public performance and rehearsals. The concert will be held at St John’s Waterloo (73 Waterloo Road, London SE1 8TY), a beautiful historical church on Southbank at 4pm on Saturday 19th August.
The rehearsal dates are:
- 8 August (Tuesday)
- 10 August (Thursday)
- 12 August (Saturday)
- 14 August (Monday)
- 15 August (Tuesday)
- 17 August (Thursday)
Rehearsal venue is St Andrew’s Waterloo (Theatre View Apartments, 19 Short St, London SE1 8LJ), a modern church 5 minutes walk from the Waterloo railway station.
During the rehearsal, the morning session between 9:30am – 12:30pm is for the orchestral ensemble. Professional tutors will take charge in choosing and arranging for the repertoire. For the first concert, most of the pieces to be performed will be chamber music, such as piano trios, string quartets, or a string or wind instrument accompanied by piano.
The afternoon session between 13:30pm – 16:30pm is for the children’s choir, led by our Artistic Director, Ms Terrie Tai. She will select a wide range of suitable repertoire differing in genres, styles, and languages for the choir, and teach basic theories and practicalities of vocal music. For the first performance, repertoire of lower difficulty will mostly be considered, so that the children will be able to learn the pieces in a relatively short frame of time.
The fees for this performance and rehearsal are:
- Choir only: £110
- Orchestral ensemble only: £110
- Both: £180
This works out approximately as £6/hour.
In addition, if parents enthusiastic about singing are willing to join us, they are warmly welcome. We will allocate parts for parents for some of the performance pieces. Fees for parents for this event are also £110.
There are still a few spaces available for the choir and orchestral ensemble, and we welcome children who are interested to apply. The application webpage is: http://chinesechildrensensemble.org/en/joining-lcce/
In the next few weeks, we will make more announcements about the details of this concert and rehearsals. Stay tuned!
