LCCE successfully held its first summer concert on the 21 August at St John’s Waterloo. Both the choir and chamber orchestra played a total of 10 pieces to an audience of around 250 people. The choir sang a pretty wide range of repertoire, which included “Jasmine Flowers”, a Chinese folk song, “Beauty of the Earth”, a modern hymn by John Rutter, “Heidenroslein”, a short song by Franz Schubert, and “Chorus of the Street Boys”, from Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen. The chamber orchestra played arrangements from Mozart’s No.40 Symphony, Harry Potter themes, Boccherini’s Minuet in G, and a festive Chinese folk piece, the Yao Dance. In the end, the choir and chamber orchestra worked together to perform Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, ending such a memorable summer afternoon.
Here are some of the photos from the concert.
